I thought this book was a great quick read. I was in a bit of a slump before and when I started reading this I was immediately taken into it. I know the title is The Secret Crush but I didn't realize that it was a huge secret for everyone. I was so captivated by the book I didn't catch on to that fact. I actually didn't even try to guess who the crush was. I always know. Lol
Being a huge fan of books and movies most things don't surprise me anymore but this book did. I enjoyed the suspense of it. All the cute things that were done to get the attention of the girl he loved was just so sweet and kind of swoon worthy.
My favorite part was some thing he told her.. He asked her to look at the stars and remember his words. "You, Hadley, shine brighter than them all. You radiate beauty and warmth and passion and determination. You put them to shame Hadley. "
Read this and I promise you will end it with a huge smile on your face.
Although this is only a novella I have to tell you the anticipation of uncovering the secret crush almost did me in. I am one of THOSE people who have to flick to the back in order to satisfy my curiosity before reading the rest of the story. YES I KNOW IT'S WRONG. I just can't help myself ;) BUT in this case I held onto the anticipation and forced myself not spoil the surprise before it was revealed in the narrative.
The story is told from alternating perspectives of the crush and Hadley, showing the excitement and trepidation of having a crush but also the apprehension of 'the crush' opening themselves up to possible rejection.
This isn't a guessing game sort of story where little hints are dropped as to the identity of 'the crush'. In fact, I don't think any clues are given, although Hadley does try to guess the identity of her secret crush, it is more by way of a process of elimination rather than revelations. While Hadley is flattered with the romantic gestures her crush, she also secretly hopes it is a particular person ;) You'll have to read it for yourself to find out P

He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named has been crushing on Hadley for three years. With his final year of college coming to an end, he decides it's time to make his move. But why the secrecy? Because Hadley knows him, but she doesn't "see" him as boyfriend material. So he embarks on a romantic quest to peak her interest and show her his romantic side. But with an ex-boyfriend determined to get Hadley back, he might not have as much time as planned.
THE SECRET CRUSH is a really cute, light-hearted and fun read and a great way to spend an hour or so trying to figure out who the crush is. It appears to be a stand-alone and is told in dual POVs.
Only bad thing is it wasn't long enough! Couldn't put it down
There is a clue given, and I discovered it, and I was right about who the secret crush was, but I won't tell you the clue. You'll have to read and see if you can discover it for yourself. A romance in the fall of the year with a haunted house for Halloween as a fundraiser. The secret crush is very appealing with his sweet words and romantic gestures. When the ex decides to step in and take the credit for all he's done in an effort to win her back, will Hadley be smart enough to know better or see right through him? I read the book in one sitting. Just bought it this morning. After all, I had to see if I was right after finding that clue. You must be a careful reader and read between the lines because there are no blaring in your face clues. Have a little fall fun and see if you can guess his identity. That's what makes this one such a fun read. If you enjoy books that are light, easy reads and a quick read, don't miss this one. I loved it. You'll fall for the secret crush yourself, if you're not careful.
I really enjoyed The Secret Crush. The book went by so easily. Wish it was a little longer. But I enjoyed the story line a lot.
